Peter Jones, PPC for Milton Keynes South

Peter Jones has been selected by Milton Keynes South Liberal Democrats to be their candidate in the coming general election.

Peter is currently a councillor on Chiltern District Council in Buckinghamshire, and chairman of the Chiltern Liberal Democrats. A former vice-chairman of the council and currently chairman of the Community & Environment Overview Committee, he has been a councillor since he was first elected back in 1991.

An experienced parliamentary candidate, Peter is about to contest the seat in Milton Keynes for the second time. He says "I was the candidate here in 1997, the year of the Labour landslide. How quickly we forget how unpopular the Conservatives were then!

" Since 1997 the Liberal Democrats have done really well in Milton Keynes. Back then there were no Liberal Democrat councillors in the constituency, now there are six. I'll be working with them to ensure that Councillors Jenni Ferrans and Stuart Burke and new candidate Subhan Shafiq are all deservedly elected this year."

Married to Katy and with two grown-up children, Peter is a director of a company in the print industry. He is a football referee, keen on all sports, a member of the Ramblers Association and he also plays in the quiz team for his local pub.
