Relaunch of 300 Bus

9.28.00pm GMT Wed 6th Jan 2010

The 300 bus service has been relaunched, with brand new buses and a brand new look.

Bus number 300, operated by Arriva, connects Milton Keynes Central Station and Central Milton Keynes with Brooklands, Broughton Gate, Kingston and Magna Park. The service started in April 2009 and since then over 70,000 people have travelled on it.

This month, the brand new Mercedes buses go into service carrying the new PlatinumMK 300 branding. The new buses are state-of-the-art low floor, easy access buses with lots of features to make the journey more comfortable, including a free wi-fi connection, air conditioning, a digital CCTV system inside and out as well as extra legroom and more space for buggies. Their hi-tech, cleaner, greener engines go further than the latest emission regulations so they are better for the environment as well.

On 5th January, the Mayor of Milton Keynes, Councillor Euan Henderson, launched the new service by cutting a ribbon on one of the new buses in Midsummer Place. Arriva and Milton Keynes Council staff were on hand to answer questions and give advice on green options for getting around Milton Keynes.

Liberal Democrat councillor Alan Mallyon, cabinet member for transport and highways, said: "This is the first tariff-funded express bus service in Milton Keynes. It will form an integral part of the "MK Star" network. As more people come to live and work in Milton Keynes, we want to see enhanced, modern and effective public transport systems to help reduce future congestion."
