For young people in Milton Keynes, making decisions about careers will be easier than ever, thanks to a new website recently launched by Milton Keynes Council.

Responding to the Government's aim to provide an 'area prospectus,' the "Make it Your Future" website (www.mkiturfuture.com) provides all the information about the courses available for 14-19 year olds in the city. Milton Keynes Council has led the development of this project, alongside Connexions and the Learning and Skills Council. The website was developed in a partnership with Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire local authorities, and the final design was chosen by pupils from across Milton Keynes.

This will be a great resource for young people, and will also be useful for parents to find out more about the grants that are available. A variety of subjects can be searched, from health and social care to retail and commercial enterprise. Information about each course provider is listed and the young person can look at which level of course they are interested in or where they want to study. They can also find out how to apply for a place and view details about open evenings.

Liberal Democrat councillor Sandra Clark, cabinet member with responsibility for children and young people, said: "The Make it Your Future website gives young people the opportunity to take responsibility for some of the most important decisions they will ever make. We hope that this website will be appealing to our web savvy students."
