Three More Children's Centres for MK

11.45.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 25th Jul 2007

Three more sites have been earmarked in Milton Keynes for the groundbreaking Sure Start children's centres.

The new centres, in Central Bletchley, Conniburrow and Bradville, will join the three other existing Sure Start centres in Fullers Slade, Netherfield and Water Eaton.

Liberal Democrat councillor Sandra Clark, cabinet member with responsibility for children, said: "Sure Start centres are the way forward for child care provision. They provide a whole 'wraparound service' - not just for the youngsters themselves but for mum and dad too."

Each centre offers integrated services at a local hub - usually based in or near a school - as well as supporting provision in neighbouring schools and other community resources.

Support is available on parenting matters, health issues, child development, and training for re-entry to employment or enhanced employment prospects. Parents can be confident that their children will get the best care while they themselves enjoy support, for example from Jobcentre Plus, while they are looking to return to work or for a change in career.
