Healthy Eating on the Web

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Sun 1st Oct 2006

A new, easy to use 'weblet' has been set up by Milton Keynes Council to help ensure local school pupils are eating 'the right stuff'.

The website contains all the latest advice from the Government as well as news about healthy initiatives being undertaken in Milton Keynes.

Parents, governors, caterers, schools and anyone with an interest in school food can log onto to

http://www.mkweb.co.uk/schoolmeals/home.asp. to pick up on the latest information and advice.

Liberal Democrat Councillor Sandra Clark, cabinet member responsible for schools, said: "A good education is one of the building blocks for life, and so is a healthy diet.

"We hope this will prove a useful resource for local schools, caterers, parents, governors and anyone else with an interest in school food. The weblet contains information on how we currently operate in Milton Keynes and what we are doing here with the government funding that we have been given from the national 'Transform School Meals' programme.

"Many of our schools in Milton Keynes are already transforming menus to give children a much healthier choice."
