Lib Dem Cabinet Positions 2006-0712.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Wed 7th Jun 2006 At a meeting on 6 June, Milton Keynes Council confirmed that Liberal Democrat Isobel McCall will continue as Leader of the Council for the coming year and Euan Henderson as Deputy Leader (with responsibility for the school building programme, leisure and community services, and economic development). Other Liberal Democrat cabinet members are: • Sandra Clark (children) • Sam Crooks (finance) • Irene Henderson (social care, housing and health) • Douglas McCall (environment and localities) • Cec Tallack (resources and performance) • Chris Williams (transport and planning) Council Leader, Isobel McCall, said: "I will continue to take the lead role on the expansion plans and I have been re-elected to the MK Partnership - a tough job in this crucial year when we must ensure local people are fully consulted." Isobel continued: "Most of the team will continue in their familiar roles, but with one major change. Chris Williams will take over what was previously Graham Mabbutt's role as cabinet member for transport and planning. Graham will be a hard act to follow, but Chris has been shadowing this portfolio for some time and is the ideal person to fill this role. "The year ahead will be challenging. We have much more to do to continue to improve services for local people. The Liberal Democrats have already built new schools, ensured recycling rates have tripled, are building an Extracare Village with another in the pipeline, have increased bus ridership and are delighted that the satisfaction rating of the Council has continued to rise."
