Extension Opened to Tower Drive Special Needs Unit

12.00.00am GMT Fri 9th Dec 2005

On 6 December Councillor Irene Henderson, Liberal Democrat cabinet member for social care, housing and health, officially opened the extension to the Special Needs Unit which is part of Tower Drive Day Centre in Neath Hill.

The new unit will provide services for an additional ten adults with profound and complex learning disabilities. It will enable them to take part in a wide range of creative and developmental experiences such as interactive music sessions and sensory massage, as well as educational opportunities such as art and IT.

This additional resource is a much-needed extension to the services already available and is part of the Council's commitment to provide person-centred services that respond to individual needs.

Irene Henderson commented: "This is an exciting new development. We want to make our services accessible to everyone and to provide the best possible opportunities for anyone with a learning disability."
