Plans to Transform Bletchley Park Approved by Liberal Democrat Cabinet

Ambitious plans to transform world-famous Bletchley Park have received a major boost following approval of the Bletchley Park Area Masterplan.

Milton Keynes Council's Liberal Democrat cabinet agreed that the Masterplan will form part of the Supplementary Planning Guidance, which means that future planning applications for the redevelopment of the area will be considered against this latest area Masterplan.

Last year the Council consulted the public and interested parties on the Masterplan and the Conservation Management Plan. The feedback received was used to help develop the Masterplan, which now replaces the existing Bletchley Park Area Development Framework.

Council Leader Isobel Wilson said: "I am delighted that we have now been able to agree this important Masterplan, which forms the final piece of the regeneration picture for Bletchley. It was vital to get this right so that such an important national historical asset as Bletchley Park can be protected and made sustainable, and to ensure that new development in the area will be sensitive to this historical setting."

The Council will continue to work jointly with Milton Keynes Partnership, Bletchley Park Trust and English Heritage, through the Bletchley Park Steering/Strategy Group and in consultation with Bletchley Development Board, to regenerate Bletchley Park as outlined within the area Masterplan.
