"More Police - Not Identity Cards," says Jane Carr

Tony Blair's Government has announced that plans for a national Identity Card scheme are to be reintroduced in Parliament. The message from the Liberal Democrats remains loud and clear:

"More police - not identity cards."

Jane Carr, Liberal Democrat Candidate for North-East Milton Keynes at the recent General Election, says: "Rather than wasting money on an expensive and ineffective Identity Card system, Liberal Democrats would spend the same money to put an additional 10,000 police on the streets. This would have much more impact on cutting crime - and the fear of crime - both here in Milton Keynes and across the country as a whole."
