The Council's new Road Safety guide is now available from local service stations, libraries and other outlets. It is also being widely distributed to local business organisations.

The booklet covers important topics such as:

• The problems of drink-driving

• Driver fatigue

• Mobile phones and driving

• Seat belts and in-car safety

• Drivers' eyesight

• Information regarding motorcyclists.

During 2004, there were a total of 834 collisions on the roads of Milton Keynes, resulting in 1,201 casualties. Tragically, 16 of those people died.

Cllr Graham Mabbutt, Liberal Democrat cabinet member responsible for transport, said: "This booklet has been made available for all drivers who travel through, to, or from Milton Keynes. It is designed to be kept in the car as a reference tool, and is being made widely available across the Milton Keynes area."
