At its annual meeting on 17 May, Milton Keynes Council unanimously elected Phil Gerrella, Liberal Democrat Councillor for Bradwell, as Mayor of Milton Keynes for the 2005/06 council year.

The Council also reappointed Lib Dem Councillor Isobel Wilson as Leader of the Council for a fourth successive year and Euan Henderson as Deputy Leader.

The Lib Dem cabinet was slightly restructured, including bringing on board an additional cabinet member. The new cabinet positions are held by:

  • Sandra Clark (children)

  • Sam Crooks (finance)

  • Euan Henderson (leisure, community and economy)

  • Irene Henderson (social care, housing and health)

  • Douglas McCall (environment and localities)

  • Graham Mabbutt (transport and planning)

  • Cec Tallack (resources and performance).

Council Leader, Isobel Wilson, said: "I will still be continuing to take the lead role on planning the expansion of Milton Keynes and most of the team will continue in their largely familiar roles. But I wanted to strengthen our finance and resources teams to ensure that the residents of Milton Keynes get even better value for money from their council tax."
