More Police, Not Identity Cards - says Jane Carr

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Sun 10th Apr 2005

With the latest figures for the Milton Keynes Police Area showing that levels of crime have increased by 11% between 2003 and 2004, Jane Carr, Parliamentary Candidate for the Liberal Democrats in North East Milton Keynes, believes that local residents deserve better.

Jane said: "Rather than wasting money on an expensive and ineffective identity card system, proposed by Labour with Tory support, Liberal Democrats want to spend the same money to put an additional 10,000 police on the streets. This would have much more impact on cutting crime and the fear of crime, both in Milton Keynes and in the country as a whole."
