21st Century Makeover for Council's Customer Service

11.50.09pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 6th Apr 2005

From Monday this week members of the public got a very pleasant surprise when they entered the Civic Offices in Milton Keynes. As a key part of their partnership, Milton Keynes Council and HBS have opened "Milton Keynes Direct", a vastly improved customer service centre, on the ground floor of the building.

Liberal Democrat Councillor Isobel Wilson, Leader of the Council, said: "This is visible evidence of significant progress in achieving one of our key manifesto commitments - to improve the service the Council provides to our customers. The new reception area is very airy and makes the best use of light and space, making it much more inviting. But Milton Keynes Direct is not just a 'pretty face' - it means that people can now access a wide range of council services in one place, instead of having to make several visits or phone calls to different departments."
