Services for adults and young people across Milton Keynes have leaped from a one to two-star rating under the Liberal Democrats, according to a new inspection from the national watchdog.

The Social Services star ratings range from zero to three stars. Both the children's and adults' social services were praised - the watchdog said "Most people are served well and the organisation has a promising capacity for improvement."

Liberal Democrat Cllr Irene Henderson, Cabinet member for Adult Social Care, said: "I am delighted with this result. One of the council's priority areas is older people's services. We have made significant progress over the past year and this result confirms this."

Cllr Euan Henderson Cabinet member for Children's Services, said: "This is terrific news. Following an excellent result in the recent inspection of Children's Services, this confirms that our staff continue to pull out all the stops to provide excellent services to our children in Milton Keynes."
